RVS IMSR second year MBA students visited one of the Inland Container Depots of Container (ICD) Corporation of India (CONCOR), which came into existence in 1988 taking over 7 ICDs from Indian Railways. From its humble beginning, it is now an undisputed market leader having the largest network of 66 ICDs/CFSs in India. In addition to providing inland transport by rail for containers, it has also expanded to cover management of Ports, air cargo complexes and establishing cold-chain.
Students were delighted to have interacted with the management of ICD and taken through the whole operation of the unit. They observed the process of sorting the goods to fit into the container, container arrangement, container movement, movement to other parts of the country through train, etc., It was a great learning experience for the students and faculty involved in the Local Industrial Visit.
