An MBA with a specialization in Applied Finance imparts advanced knowledge around the conceptual framework as well as applications of those in Finance. The idea is to make a participant adept in a practical sense while approaching problems in the financial world. It not only provides an understanding of the strategic impacts of financial decisions but also prepares the participant for rewarding careers in corporate, banking services, financial services, and financial markets at managerial level.


The course aims to build a strong application oriented understanding of Microsoft Excel and its usage in the Managerial Roles. It also aims to bring students to an understanding of Excel where the student is able to use Excel to analyze and represent data effectively, as well as to solve problems in the management domain using Microsoft Excel. The course relies heavily on data and problem sets as found in management world.
The course aims to enlighten upon the concepts, tools and techniques applicable for financial decision making by a business firm. Specific objectives include developing an understanding of corporate finance and capital markets, emphasizing the financial aspects of managerial decisions. It touches on all areas of finance, including the valuation of real and financial assets, risk management and financial derivatives, the trade-off between risk and expected return, and corporate financing and dividend policy. The course aims to equip students with a knowledge that would form the backbone of decision making in the financial world.
The course aims to build upon fundamentals of financial statement analysis picked up by students in the earlier courses. It aims to enable students to evaluate financial statements and annual reports of companies and analyze these reports in detail, with a practical understanding of what real life situations are causing the statements to look the way they are. Usage of live and current examples from existing companies will enable the student to link the learning with real life examples. The objective is to enable the students to analyze why financial statements are looking the way they do for a company, and go beyond just the calculation of ratios.
This course will provide a strong conceptual foundation in corporate finance and an overview of the global and Indian context. Broadly, corporate finance covers decisions by firms on investment and on financing, capital structure and dividend policy. The objective of the course would be to build on major concepts learnt in Financial Management, and apply them to real life cases using live examples of companies listed on the stock exchanges.
The course aims to enable students to understand the basics of Wealth Management and Financial Planning as an industry as well as for personal investments. The objective is to enable the student to be able to provide financial advisory at a basic level based on financial goals and needs of an individual. The course also aims to impart a detailed understanding of the existing products and options in the financial services industry in India, with a specific focus on Mutual Funds and Insurance.
This course ensures the students on the basic level of understanding on derivatives and basics of risk management in the decision making process through the concepts and applications. The course would cover applications of futures and options in the real world, with an understanding of how they are used for hedging, speculation and arbitrage.
The course aims to enable students to evaluate a business or a company using common valuation methodologies. It will build upon the earlier understanding of financial statements, and enable students to extend the analysis into valuation of companies. The student shall be able to build a valuation model for a given company. The focus of the program would be on understanding the business drivers and building those into a valuation model, such that the impact of those could be captured into a valuation model.
The course aims to enable students to use and implement Financial Modeling to solve practical problems along the breadth of Financial Industry. This would build upon concepts learnt in Excel for Managers, and take it to an elevated level, by building up on those and applying them to real life problems in the financial services industry. The course would also aim to impart know-how around building accurate, flexible and user friendly financial models, with well-defined objectives.
